Big News from the European Parliament! On 25 November, the ENVI Committee approved the corrigendum legislative text for the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), without opposition from any political group. Just two days later, on 27 November, the European Parliament plenary session endorsed the text again, with no requests for a vote. This marks a decisive step forward in Europe’s commitment to reducing waste and accelerating the circular economy.

What happens next? The Council is expected to grant final approval in December 2024, with the Regulation entering into force in 2025. After an 18-month transition, mid-2026 will mark the start of full application, supported by implementing and delegated acts. This timeline will reshape packaging strategies across Europe.
